Pride Month celebrates the ongoing movement of the LGBTIQA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer/Questioning, Asexual, & other terms) community. The celebration of Pride Month happened shortly following the Stonewall Riots and protests in 1969. Today, Pride Month is celebrated across the country as well as in our own backyards of the Chicagoland area. Northwestern Medicine, UI Health, Lurie Children’s, Rush, and Loyola are just a few healthcare organizations who have expressed the importance of Pride Month to the community.
Along with this, Howard Brown Health, serves as one of the nation’s largest LGBTQ+ organizations and they recently shared a blog post highlighting the importance of knowing your rights to treatment. To read more visit: https://howardbrown.org/beyond-the-ballot-know-your-right-to-treatment/.
Chicago Department of Public Health shows its support by hosting events throughout the month of June. To learn more visit: https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/depts/cdph/provdrs/health_protection_and_response/news/2024/june/cdph-weekly-media-brief-6-6-2024.html.

As we move towards a more inclusive future, take time this month to educate, learn, and continue the movement on the importance of Pride Month and its progression for the LGBTIQA+ community. Happy Pride!
