Ellen is the Vice President of Cancer Service Line Administration at Advocate Health. She serves on the CHEF Executive Board as the Director of Education and Networking.
What is your "why" for getting into healthcare?
I always wanted to work in a medical environment, initially thinking I would be a medical technologist, but reconsidering when I realized the job was largely about looking at specimens in a lab. I was introduced to my mother’s friend, a hospital dietitian, and that set me on the path to nutrition and dietetics, then a 30+ year career in hospital administration.
What is your favorite part of being in CHEF?
As a 2015 transplant to Chicago, I’ve loved CHEF for the numerous networking and collegial relationships I have made, while also supporting emerging and mid-careerists to develop professionally.
What is a fun fact that people might not know about you?
While living in Philadelphia and attending a local chapter event, I met my husband - the ultimate in networking!
